Who are they?
EMAT is a trust with almost 5,000 pupils and over 600 staff with schools across Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes. With so many eyes on their websites, the schools’ brands needed completely refreshing.
EMAT is a trust with almost 5,000 pupils and over 600 staff with schools across Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes. With so many eyes on their websites, the schools’ brands needed completely refreshing.
With seven new logos and eight new websites, this was no small project! We needed to create a series of logos and websites that were cohesive and clearly all belonged to the same Trust, but that also had their own unique identity.
We set about creating seven logos that represented each school, keeping the illustration style simple so it would look great embroidered on the uniforms. Bright colours were a must, as was making sure the colour schemes went well with the EMAT blue. The badge style is simple but effective and works great across all media.
Once each school’s brand was born, we were able to easily design and assemble the websites. All the websites under the Trust have a similar layout, giving them a cohesive feel. However, we’ve given each of them their own identity through the use of colour and imagery, helping each individual school stand strongly by itself.
We built each website using our powerful CMS, LayerSync, which allows each school to take control of their digital presence. A powerful back-end software solution, LayerSync uses functional modules that can be assembled to build a page, enabling anyone who uses it to add links, blogs and galleries with ease. Not only this, but LayerSync gives EMAT the ability to control all schools through one single CMS platform.
One of the most important things about school websites in the present day is keeping parents informed on the go. With so many of us opting for phones over laptops in day-to-day life, it was vital that we created websites that were designed with phones and tablets in mind, so parents can stay easily updated. Each website is just as easy to navigate on a mobile as on desktop, with links, downloads, galleries and contact information all easily available.
The result is a series of beautifully crafted logos, a comprehensive set of brand guidelines, and eight websites that can easily be controlled through one easy-to-use platform. Not only this, but our work with one of EMAT’s schools has continued, with us creating an illustrated wall mural, spanning three floors!
